Manufactured using planar technology, the device features a "base island" layout and a monolithic Darlington configuration. The resulting transistor shows excellent high gain performance and very low saturation voltage. Ideal for controlling applications in medium- and high-power electronics such as motors, solenoids or 1-watt or higher LEDs. The TIP120 can switch up to 60V with a peak current of 8A (discontinuous) and a continuous current of 5A with a DC gain of about 1000.
