The Nordic Semiconductor nRF51822 is a multi-protocol Bluetooth low energy / 2.4 GHz dedicated RF single-chip solution for PC peripherals, Internet TV, toys, remote controls, sports / fitness / health sensors and automation applications.
IC features include:
16 KB and 256 KB on-chip flash memory;
Digital and mixed-signal surround, including SPI, 2-wire, ADC and quadrature decoder;
16 PPI channels
On-chip load matching "When the supply voltage range of 1.8-3.6 V, 1.75 1.95 V" bypass mode;
Slices and pulls out a 3V battery (such as a button cell) out of the DC / DC converter;
A 32 KHZ RC oscillator +/- 250 parts per million (PPM) for low power Bluetooth applications eliminates the need for an external 32 KHZ crystal to save cost and PCB space;
6x6mm 48pin QFN package, providing up to 32 GPIOs;
A complete Bluetooth protocol stack (link layer to the configuration file).
The NRF51822 S110 is a downloadable, royalty-free, precompiled binary Bluetooth stack that can be independently programmed and updated for low power consumption. Features include:
Asynchronous API and event-driven SVC;
Runtime protection
GATT, GAP and L2CAP level APIs;
Peripherals and radio roles;
GATT client and server;
Parallel protocol 2.4 GHz and above for RF proprietary protocols;
Less than 128 KB of code and 6 KB of RAM, more than 128 KB of flash for applications and 10 KB of RAM;
The nRF51822 stack running S110 reduces power consumption by as much as 50% compared to using the nRF8001 dual-chip generation.
